From July 13th-19th, St. Andrews, Scotland will be the site for the 2015 British Open golf tournament. The names Ernie Els, Stewart Cink, Padraig Harrington, Tiger Woods, David Duval, Greg Norman, and most recently Rory McIlroy adorn the famed Claret Jug. Who will be the next name to appear on the beloved trophy? Besides the talents of the players themselves, what else can you count in when the British Open begins? You can count on these top players utilizing a few secret weapons that could help propel them to victory.

Jordan Spieth

Weapon of Choice: Spieth is not only the new golden boy of golf, he’s also the face of Under Armour. He’ll be as fashionable as he will be sweat-free wearing Under Armour’s coldblack Par Stripe Polo. The innovative coldblack technology regulates your body temperature by deflecting the sun’s rays so Spieth can maintain his cool, calm and collected demeanor. He’s carry some momentum into the British Open after winning last week’s John Deere Classic.

Ricky Fowler

Weapon of Choice: Fowler will no doubt be sporting his famous flat-brim Puma hat and matching flashy outfit. If style is a secret weapon, Fowler has it. Aside from shielding his eyes from the sun during sunny days on the course, his signature hat has become a huge fan favorite. One scan over the crows and Fowler can easily get a confidence boost from seeing many young fans mimic his look. Plus, he’s on a roll having just won the Scottish Open.

9Phil Mickelson

Weapon of Choice: You don’t win five majors without a little help. Mickelson uses Calloway’s new Chrome Soft golf ball. The ball is designed to have a low spin when hit off of a tee. This ensures that “Lefty” can hit the ball farther. If he can out drive his opponents, that will go a long way (literally) towards his goal of winning the tournament.

Tiger Woods

Weapon of Choice: There’s no denying the fact that Woods needs his mojo back, as he hasn’t won a major since the 2008 U.S. Open. He’s getting older and can’t bounce back from injury the way he once did. Many of his recent shortcomings have been tied to his short game. If he executes properly with the Nike Method 001 Putter as we’ve seen him do in the past, he might be able to cut down on the strokes and find a way to finally get back on the winning side.

Sergio Garcia

Weapon of Choice: Ninth-ranked Garcia is a consistent top-ten finisher, though he still hasn’t finished higher than second in a major. He has lucrative sponsorship deals with both TaylorMade and adidas, the latter is well-known for its footwear, including golf spikes. Garcia wears adidas Tour 360 golf shoes known for their comfort as well as their functionality which keeps him on his toes—so to speak—during multiple-hour rounds.

voaporRory McIlroy

Weapon of Choice: McIlroy sustained an ankle injury while playing soccer and won’t be able to participate in this year’s British Open. But, when he is healthy, he uses his Nike Vapor Pro with a Mitsubishi Diamana Blue Board S+ 70 TX shaft to drive the ball over 300 yards off the tee. Fans will be eagerly anticipating his return.
